BOOK DESIGN
These are a selection of books I’ve designed and produced as a freelance graphic designer. I work with both publishing houses and self-publishing authors, and have designed a wide range of titles including guidebooks, photographic books, manuals and children’s books. If your project requires a cartographer, proofreader or printer, I have a network of trusted professionals I collaborate with. And, if you’re a first-time author, I can guide your book through every stage – from concept to print. If you’d like to discuss your project, get in touch.
This was designed and produced for a self-publishing author and was a great project to work on. I worked closely with the author to ensure we created an excellent paddling resource, and I also created all the maps and associated graphics.
This is the most recent book I have produced for Pedsa Press, who I have worked with for a number of years (and shared a few stories over dinner with!). During this time I have produced over 35 books, either using their in-house design or creating a new design to fit within their catalogue.
This is the third book I’ve produced for fotoVUE. The layout is based on fotoVUE’s design template, to ensure it fits with their 'The Beauty of' series.
Alun is a retired IFMGA Mountain Guide and now a professional photographer who has spent three decades exploring Khumbu and other remote mountain ranges around the world. Known for his work with the Royal Gurkha Regiment and his contributions to the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT), he wanted to produce a photographic celebration of the Khumbu Himal, the people and their culture, and raise money for the GWT. He wanted an eye-catching and dynamic design, and we shared ideas and a few drafts before settling on an overall style. This was a beautiful and inspirational project to work on.
